Hello everyone,

Lucas here, I hope you are doing well. Please find in this article:

  • Our shipping schedule
  • Information about how shipping works

We are indeed fully concentrated on assembling, soldering, flashing the software, performing quality control checks and shipping the VK-X to our 720 first backers. Unfortunately, this process is taking more time than expected since each pair of headphones, as we realized, takes at least 2 hours to be entirely completed and then shipped. We are now 9 people working almost full time on headphone production (Baptiste and I also need to do other tasks related to running the company).

Shipping schedule (updated on 14.05.2019):

  • Batch 2: from 23rd of February until 1st of March ~ 90 units
  • Batch 3: from 2nd of March until 12th of March ~ 90 units ✅
  • Batch 4: from 13rd of March until 1st of April ~ 100 units
  • Batch 5: from 2nd of April until 14th of April ~ 110 units
  • Batch 6: from 15th of April until 30th of April ~ 110 units
  • Batch 7: from 1st of May until 14th of May~ 130 units ✅

Please note that you can check which batch is being shipped on the blog’s header to see if we are ahead or behind schedule.

As a reminder, please find below additional information about shipping:

  • A couple of days before your batch shipment begins, I will ask you to confirm your shipping address
  • All shipments will feature a tracking number and will be delivered with signature only
  • You will receive an email notification once your VK-X has been shipped

I am sorry for those delays and I understand the impatience of you all. We are doing our best, and the first feedbacks are great so far: we look forward to delivering your VK-X 🙂

I am at your disposition if you have any other questions and will be happy to help: please just comment!

I wish you a great weekend,

VK-1, VK-2, VK-X

A design chronology

Hello everyone,

Lucas here: I hope you are doing well! It has been a while since I wanted to take VK-X’s upcoming public launch on April, 8th opportunity to publish a short article dedicated to our VK design chronology.

The VK series is the first headphone design we ever launched with a first product, the VK-1 back in 2013. For us, this serie is the definition of what high-end headphones should look like, a definition that relies on 3 fundamental pillars: Timelessness, Heritage, Technology. It was designed in collaboration with designer Eugeni Quitllet.

What does “VK” stands for?

“VK” for “Valkyrie” came as a name to us when we were looking for a name for our first creation, the VK-1 back in 2013. At that time, as we were bringing to the market the first headphones with such a unique design and vision, we were an unknown brand starting our “fight” against audio giants. “Valkyrie” symbolizes our first battle, since Valkyries are, in Norse mythology, female figures who choose those who may die in battle and those who may live.

The VK-1, as I said, was the genesis of aëdle. They were the first headphones ever assembled in France (our workshop was located in Brittany at the time) out of such noble materials: Genuine Lambskin Leather and Aircraft Grade Machined Aluminum. Its timeless design was acclaimed internationally and won a Red Dot Design Award in 2015. Both production and sales of the VK-1 were stopped in early 2017. More info about the VK-1 could be found on our website

With the VK-2, we updated the VK-1 based on all what we had learned from the VK-1 experience and from our users, while keeping the exact same design. The new conception made the VK handier (foldable flat earpads, removable earpads, headband stitches on the sides), improved its solidity, and featured a sound signature a bit more neutral / audiophile. More info about the VK-2 could be found on our website

The VK-X is the natural wireless successor of the VK-2. Very few modifications were made in terms of design, except :

  • The addition of minimal buttons and LEDs to control and understand the new wireless features
  • The removal and replacement of the 3.5mm jack port with a USB-C port
  • An over-ear earpad design instead of an on-ear design to improve comfort and isolation

Its development was funded by our community of users thanks to an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign in June 2018. More info about the VK-X could be found on our website and on the Indiegogo page
